The Wheaty is proud to present:

Pop Crimes - The Songs of Rowland S Howard

over two shows: Sat 25th and Sun 26th October 2014.

Rowland S. Howard (24 October 1959 – 30 December 2009) was arguably one of the most influential guitarists Australia has ever produced.

He created a sonic language of sharp, brutal intensity unheard of in this country, in bands such as The Birthday Party, Crime & the City Solution, & These Immortal Souls.

In a career spanning over 30 years, Rowland left an imprint on culture which has inspired, and continues to inspire artists & musicians across the globe.

Pop Crimes brings together original members & key collaborators from his illustrious career two special concert events – an electrifying celebration of an Australian music icon.

Featuring:  Mick Harvey, Harry Howard, JP Shilo, Brian Hooper & more...

In conjunction to the two shows, The Wheaty will also be hosting screenings of ‘Autoluminescent’ the 2011 Richard Lowenstein documentary, as well as an exhibition of gig photographs from the archive of photographer Alison Lea, and tap beers from the ‘Spoonbender’ series from Yeastie Boys, inspired by Crime & The City Solution Songs. http://www.yeastieboys.co.nz/spoonbender

On the weekend of what would have been Rowland’s 55th birthday, we are giving the whole three days over in tribute. Come and join us.
